Scientific Reports publication

09/27/2018: P.-A. Blanche et al., “A 300 THz tabletop radar range system with sub-micron distance accuracy“, Scientific Reports, (2018) 8:14443, DOI:10.1038/s41598-018-32846-9. Link

In this article I am describing how optics can be used to simulate the information that will be perceived by a radar system looking at a specific target. With this system, you don’t need neither the radar nor the target to obtain the information.

MDPI Material Gest Editor

Guest Editor for MDPI Materials, special issue on “Photoactive Materials: Synthesis, Applications and Technology“. Link

This issue will cover any material that interacts with the
light electromagnetic field and modifies either their own
properties or those of the field. Including:

  • Nonlinear optical material (Kerr, two-photon
    absorption, saturable absorber),
  • Photorefractive materials (crystal, polymer, hybrid).
  • Photochromic materials (glass, azo-dye, chromophore).
  • Spectral and orientational hole-burning.
  • Plasmonic and photonics material and structures (optical nano-antenna, active nanoparticles).
  • 2D material for optics (graphene, RGO, MoS 2 , WS 2 ).
  • Metamaterials (negative index, gradient index, optical cloaking).
  • Magneto-optics material (high Verdet constant, optical isolator).
  • Material for quantum optic (single photon emitter/detector, quantum state storage, nonlinear processing).

GoerTek Seminar

08/23/2018: I will be presenting my research activities on holograms and displays at the 2018 GoerTek Optical Seminar, Weifang (China).

I had to cancel my trip to China, due to a 2 hours delay in my United Airline flight from San Diego to San Francisco. Although United acknowledge the delay, they did not provide any compensation or solution to transport me to China. Beware!

SPIE Optics + Photonics

08/19/2018: I will be attending the SPIE Optics and Photonics conference in San Diego, August 19-23. Link

  • Invited talk: “Holography for automotive applications, from HUD to LIDAR” Paper 10757-11, in SPIE Optical Engineering + Applications. Link
  • Session Chair for “Optical Technologies for Intelligent Cars II “, Sunday 19 August 2018
