Building the Chain

1 – What is a chain?

During this tutorial we built many links. While the links show the electric fields propagating from one optics object to another, the OPTISCAN simulator does not know the order to evaluate the links in. A chain lets the modeler specify the order in which the links should be evaluated. Thus, a chain specifies exactly how the electric fields propagate through the model during the simulation.

2 – To build a chain click on “Add Link to Chain” :

A link is added to a chain by clicking on it. Click on the following links:

  • Position the disk to the correct spot.
    linktype.gooeydelta.target
  • Propagate the transmitted electric fields from the source to the reflected target.
    linktype.source.target
  • Propagate the reflected electric fields from the target to the look object.
    linktype.target.look

You should get the following result:

If you accidently add the links in the wrong order, click on “Clear Chain” so you can start over again:
