About Women in Optics

Welcome to WiO! As one of the first diversity and inclusion focused STEM clubs at the University of Arizona, we’re on a mission to build a college culture that helps all of our students to achieve their full potential. As a student-run club, we focus on both the retention and professional development of all students in the college, as well as the recruitment of diverse and talented future optical scientists.

The WiO board encourages you to get involved with Women in Optics during your time at OSC. Even if it’s just coming to events and meetings, your unique perspective and presence help to build a college community we can all be proud of.  Our leadership positions and events are open to all students of any gender identity enrolled in optical sciences, graduate or undergraduate, who are passionate about the important role of diversity and inclusion in optics.

We also enthusiastically welcome collaboration with industry, the Tucson community, and the greater University environment.
