Position Overview:

As an Optical Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2025, you will be supporting the design, manufacturing and test of optical components/systems such as mirrors, lenses and telescopes.  Tasks may include optical metrology, data analysis, optical system wavefront testing and Zemax optical design/analysis.  You will benefit from working side by side with a talented and experienced group of professionals eager to mentor.

Responsibilities: 

  • Planning and execution of tasks listed above under the guidance of one or more Optical Engineering mentors
  • Documentation of designs and corresponding analyses in engineering memos

 

Education Requirements: 

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or Astronomy from an accredited institution

Experience Required: 

  • Completion of a minimum of three optics-related courses.

The position is located onsite at our facility in Danbury, CT. This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to use hands to keyboard, communicate, listen to, and interpret instructions and remain stationary for extended periods of the time. This would require the ability to move around the campus and occasionally move/lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
