Belden's Fiber Lab Manager will oversee the test operations and all department personnel of the fiber lab within the Tucson, AZ Fiber Technology Center. The Lab Manager will direct all product verification testing to ensure product performance to application and ensure compliance to product standards. This is an on-site position located in Tucson, AZ and will report to the Director of Engineering Services.
You will make a difference in the following ways:
- Primary responsibility for oversight of test lab personnel and overall operations to include managing team performance and budget ownership.
- Oversees test lab operations for efficiency and determines priorities for test requests, ensuring the availability of equipment and capacity to meet goals.
- Reviews all test reports, research and evaluate all observations / findings listed, and communicating to appropriate parties.
- Performs test and evaluations in a proactive manner on current production items to verify functional performance to specification.
- Evaluates and approves testing methods, procedures and processes for continuous improvement to reduce cost and/or improve operating efficiency of the department.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production, processes and quality of products.
- Participates in meetings and conference calls with customer / vendor management to discuss specs, test standards and priorities.
What you bring:
- Bachelors degree in Optical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant test lab experience combined with a minimum 2 years of prior supervisory experience.
- Strong of optical fiber products and their application.
- Highly knowledgeable in test specifications for optical fiber products and industry trends.
- Proven ability to generate a strong followership and exceptional team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high-performance goals.
- Professional and effective at communication skills across all levels of an organization.
Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $81,000 to $123,000 annually, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. This is the reasonable estimate that Belden believes it might pay for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant's experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
