Job Summary & Responsibilities
Principal electrical engineer will take the lead in advancing electrical and electronic systems in support of optical instrumentation designed and built by 4D. Instruments include interferometers, using various wavelengths and operation modes, as well as new and novel optical instruments used for surface characterization and metrology.
• Teamwork to understand design requirements, electronics design, design reviews participation, firmware development, motion control, thermal control, laser and light source controls
• Coordination with circuit board manufacturing vendors
• Support for production of released and new electronics designs
• Management of obsoleted components on legacy designs, regulatory certifications (CE, NRTL, RoHS)
Desired Skills
• Analog and digital design and analysis; Circuit board layout and electrical schematic creation
• Electrical/electronics system troubleshooting
• FPGA programming
• Background in design for manufacturability
• Familiarity with IPC-WHMA-A-620A for cable design and drawing, C/C++ for embedded systems programming, HTML5, Texas Instruments RTOS
Qualifications
• BS in Electrical Engineering plus 10 years relevant experience or advanced Electrical Engineering degree plus 5 years relevant experience
• Experience with electrical engineering design to include troubleshooting, analysis, and test
• Experience with commonly used electrical engineering design and analysis tools including but not limited to: Altium
• Experience with commonly used test equipment including but not limited to: Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Network Analyzers, Power Meters
• Experience using schematic capture tools and interpreting schematics
• US Citizenship
