- The position of Senior Precision Mechanical Engineer is within the Applied Research & Development (AR&D) Department of the Corning Optical Communications Division. AR&D combines a deep understanding of Fiber Optic telecommunication systems with fundamental knowledge of structured materials to develop new advantaged optical products and processes. This role will focus on early-stage product and process development leading to demonstration of new technologies driving business growth.
- Mechanical design of precision components with hands-on assembly, alignment, and testing
- 3D Computer Aided Design with application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Identify / integrate / verify sub-micrometer motion control and associated metrology
- Modeling / simulation of components and assemblies using Finite Element Analysis
- S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of relevant work experience required
- High level of competence with dimensional engineering and associated metrology required
