Position Summary:
4D Technology is seeking a highly motivated engineer to assist with metrology product and applications development to join a team of experienced professionals in a growing, dynamic, high-tech environment. This individual will focus on providing excellent customer technical support in a professional manner. Travel to customer sites to perform demonstrations, installations, and training is expected. They will also work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to ensure our customers have the highest regard for our products and services.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Master the operation of state-of-the-art optical instrumentation hardware and software.
  • Master techniques of optical metrology for precision measurement. Summarize results with reports and presentations.
  • Perform customer demonstrations (onsite, offsite, webinars), system installations, and training in the operation and application of 4D hardware and software products and develop a high-level understanding of customer use cases for the systems.
  • Position requires up to 25% travel both in the US and internationally.
  • Provide remote technical support to the 4D Sales, Applications and Service teams.
  • Support technical conferences and short courses with Sales as needed.
  • Provide support to key accounts and other customers as designated.
  • Provide feedback to factory on suggested design improvements, troubleshooting techniques and ways to improve products and processes.
  • Enhance and/or create work instructions and debugging documents for new/existing products.
  • Work with marketing communications to generate and update marketing materials: e.g. Web Site, Ads, Brochures, Trade-show graphics, and collateral material.
  • Communicate with customers and coworkers in an effective and affable manner.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS degree or higher with 2+ years of experience in optical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in application and integration of precision optical and optomechanical components.
  • Excellent analytical capability for systematic troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of electronics, mechanics, computers and common tools.
  • Customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed and reliable.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and willing to work in a team environment.
  • US Citizen.

Position Location: The position is based in our headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. Coverage area is worldwide, supporting direct Sales in the US, and distributors across the globe. A 2-6 month training period, depending on candidate experience, will take place in Tucson, Arizona.
