Big Plastic Pplate (BPP)
Material/Equipment
- Stabilizing plate
- Plastic sheet
- Drill press
- Bits set
Purpose
- To hold the small plastic plate to the tubes, and ease to align laser and camera.
Procedure
- Use a bit (circular cutting blade, like that from a hole saw) to cut a circular shape piece with the diameter of 2.5’’ from a big plastic sheet. There should be a hole of diameter 0.3’’ at the center of the plate after cutting.
- Repeat the previous steps to make multiple items.Replace the bit with 0.1’’ diameter bit.
- Stable the stabilizing plate onto drilling surface of the drill press table. Adjust the drill press table so that the bit can go through the small hole (on the stabilizing plate) as the bit moving down.
- Put the circular shape plate on the stabilizing plate, stable it by putting a 0.1’’ diameter bit through the plate and into the bigger hole on the stabilizing plate.
- Drill a hole on the plate by pressing the bit down.
- Remove the plate.
- Repeat the previous step to drill another 0.1’’ diameter hole symmetric through the 0.3’’ diameter hole. (Look at the picture)
- Replace the 0.1’’ bit by a 0.5’’ diameter bit. Remove the stabilizing plate.
- Put the plate on cramp on the drill table to stable it.
- Drill a 0.5’’ hole over the center hole on the plate (use the already drill to locate the correct bit location).
- Use a tapper to tap the 0.1’’ diameter holes.
- Repeat the previous steps to make multiple items.
Expectation
- The two smaller holes have to be symmetric. The bigger hole has to be at the center of the plate. All the dimensions have to be correct.
