Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Undergraduate students have three options to conduct research with the group:
- For credit
- Students can earn Directed Research or Independent Study credits by working on a project and presenting the results at the end of the semester. OSE students in the Optics Track can use up to 6 credits towards Tech Electives; those in other majors should consult their advisor on how the credits could count in their degree.

Students Outside of the University of Arizona
If you are a student who is from outside of the University of Arizona and are interested in pursuing graduate studies in the group, you must first apply and be admitted to the Wyant College of Optical Sciences or another graduate program at the University of Arizona. Direct contact with faculty does not affect the formal admissions process of the University of Arizona. Please see the respective department websites for details on applying and being admitted to the university.

- Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory
For international students: please note that most graduate schools in the US operate on a standard admissions cycle, which will likely be different to graduate programs in other countries. This usually includes an application process that happens in the late-fall/early-winter, acceptance notifications in the spring, and positions starting concurrent with the fall semester of the next academic year. Typically, applications outside of this period cannot be considered until the following cycle.
