Optica Fellow Profile

I’m honored to be featured in Optica’s newly published Fellow Profiles.
The profile gave me an opportunity to reflect on a scientific path that has taken me from fluid mechanics to cellular mechanics and, ultimately, to label-free ultrasensitive molecular sensing.
Today, my group is developing next-generation optical sensing platforms and working with collaborators across disciplines on problems ranging from early disease detection and drug discovery to environmental and plant sensing.
I also shared some thoughts on mentorship, curiosity across disciplines, and why I believe this is a particularly exciting time for optics and photonics.
Optica has been my professional home for many years, and I’m grateful for the colleagues, mentors, students, collaborators, and friends who have made that community so meaningful.
Thank you to Optica for sharing my story.
