Project Description

Timbre is tasked with developing novel optical inspection and metrology sensing solutions for Tokyo Electron. TEL is one of big 4 manufacturers of semiconductor capital equipment. Typical 3-month summer internship assignment may involve some or all of the following: theoretical investigation of your assigned problem in the field of semiconductor inspection and metrology, optical design and optimization, constructing and debugging optical bench, data collection and analysis. You will learn and work within a group of about 30 highly experienced engineers in the heart of the Silicon Valley. At the end of the internship you’d be expected to present your results to broader TEL community.

 

Project Specifications and Candidate Requirements

Courses: OPTI 505, 513, 517 or similar. Preferred candidates would have completed at least 2 years of graduate level coursework and training by the time internship starts.

Facilities, equipment: lab space including class 100 clean room, Trioptics alignment benches, Zygo interferometer, spectrophotometers, ellipsometers, reflectometers, refractometers, microscopes, DLS/SLS reference system.

SW: Successful candidate is expected to be familiar with Zemax, Matlab, Labview, and similar SW packages.

Contract/NDA: we will provide an employment contract including NDA upon hiring.

Expected compensation: you will be located in Fremont, CA with agreed-upon market competitive compensation. TEL will reimburse one-way trip from Tucson to Fremont, and return trip to Tucson at the end of contract. The daily commute is the responsibility of the student. TEL will also reimburse up to 4 weeks of temporary housing.
