Job Summary:

Envision Technology, an innovative business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense and law enforcement applications, is seeking an Optical Engineering Co-Op for our Spring 2026 Co-Op Program to work alongside experienced subject matter experts to gain invaluable insight and practical skills. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of Optical Engineering. This includes design, modeling, integration, manufacturing, and testing of complex handheld, weapon-mounted and head borne electro-optical systems and subsystems, in addition to supporting production with various activities.
Responsibilities:
- Work within multidiscipline teams (Electrical, Optical, Mechanical Engineers, Business Development, Program Management, etc.) to assist with new/existing product design activities.
- Aid in the development of various optical requirements given system-level specifications.
- Design, model, & tolerance new optical designs using Zemax.
- Aid in the articulation & management of design trade-offs with key stakeholders.
- Assist with the assembly of new product prototypes.
- Define optical prescriptions to assist in the procurement of optical components. (lens form, optical tolerances, materials, etc.)
- Collaborate with Production Staff to develop assembly stations.
- Aid in the creation of design verification test (DVT) procedures for various new/existing products.
- Aid in the testing of new/existing products and/or subassemblies.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a BS in Optical Engineering or Physics, with an anticipated graduation year of 2026, 2027, or 2028.
- Basic skills or familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
- Zemax Optics Studio and/or ZOS-API programming
- Programming experience in Matlab, C++, C#, Python
- Optical testing using Interferometers and MTF Test Benches
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and other external personnel.
