Integrating Sphere

Spherical Integrating Source

The Remote Sensing Group’s 102-cm diameter spherical integrating source (SIS) is a radiance source used for the calibration of a wide variety of imaging and nonimaging radiometer systems. The RSG’s SIS is illuminated internally by various combinations of halogen bulbs, and can be operated at light levels as high as 1.5 kW. The SIS is coated internally with a highly reflective Spectralon® coating, providing nearly-lambertian illumination of a 20-cm diameter aperture, making it ideal for the simultaneous cross calibration of multiple sensor systems.
