It combines the real world we see with a virtual world overlaying it. The AR sandbox uses an actual box of sand with a digital topographical map overlayed on top of the sand.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Supplies:<\/strong> Sandbox, tarp, sand, computer, XBox Kinect sensor module, projector<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong> Interact with the sand to change the topo profile in real time<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator demo:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Move the sand around to see the topo image change<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Wave your hand above the sand to make it rain<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>To drain the water, hit the ESC key on the keyboard<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Select the sandbox icon on the desktop to reopen the program<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Press \/><!-- \/wp:separator -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Happening?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\r\n<p>The XBox Kinect sends out an array of IR light. There is a sensor on the Kinect that detects the reflection of the IR light off of the sand.
