Objectives: Enjoy immersing yourself in a world where anything can happen
Setup:
- Charge the Oculus
- Turn on the Oculus
- Make sure the hand controllers have working batteries
How to run the demo:
Place the headset on your head and adjust the straps to fit the individual. Choose a demo game/activity and have fun
What’s Happening?
Through a combination of hardware and software, VR headsets create a 3D environment for individuals. This environment replaces the real world with one that simulates the real world. The hardware senses and tracks the individuals movements in real time. The software uses a combination of video and audio to to complete the immersive experience.
Try This:
- Build your own 3D viewer. Take a Thorlabs Lab Snacks box, scissors, tape, and 2 lenses
- Cut and fold the box as shown in photo number 2.
- The lens section can be moved towards and away from your eyes for optimal focus.
- Once constructed, use your phone and YouTube to find a 3D experience.
