{"id":12,"date":"2020-07-08T19:51:40","date_gmt":"2020-07-08T19:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/live-optics-wp.pantheonsite.io\/opti570\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2025-08-17T02:31:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T02:31:16","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/opti570\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h2>Announcements<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>First day of class for Fall 2025:\u00a0 Tues, Aug 26, 2025.\u00a0 12:30-1:45pm.\u00a0 Optical Sciences Room 305<\/strong><\/span>\r\n<table id=\"z_c\" class=\"d2l-table d2l-grid d_gl\" summary=\"List of announcements\"><\/table>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li>For students enrolled in OPTI 570, announcements are posted on the OPTI 570 D2L page (go to d2l.arizona.edu)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>In-Person and Zoom help sessions<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><strong>Optional post-lecture recap\/Q&amp;A<\/strong>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Tuesdays and Thursdays, approx. 1:50-2:50pm unless otherwise stated (sometimes may need to be cancelled).\u00a0 In person, conference room 447.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Also recorded and posted to D2L\/Panopto for distance students to watch.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>This is a chance to ask questions and gain clarity on topics discussed in that day&#8217;s lecture, which is the priority vs discussing homework problems.\u00a0 Please try to free up this time slot to attend in case it&#8217;s needed, but it&#8217;s not required and it is recorded, so it&#8217;s not a problem if you are otherwise busy.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>TA recitation sections<\/strong><br \/>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>TA: <strong>Justin Murante<\/strong>, Optical Science PhD student.\u00a0 jmurante [at] arizona.edu<\/li>\r\n<li>5-6:30pm on most Wednesdays.\u00a0 This session will be held\u00a0 in-person in room 305 of Meinel, and will also be recorded using Zoom and posted on D2L\/Panopto.\u00a0 If a live Zoom option is available, the Zoom link and password will be posted on the announcements page of the 570 D2L site.<\/li>\r\n<li>Ask questions about the homework due that week, or other questions about the course material<\/li>\r\n<li>Exams for Main Campus students will also be given during this time block (5-7pm actually).\u00a0 \u00a0Attendance is <strong>required<\/strong> during these times when exams are given (unless you have made other arrangements with Cris), whereas recitation attendance is optional.\u00a0 Exams for distance students will be scheduled separately and due a few days after the in-person exams.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Cris&#8217;s office hours<\/strong>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>TBD. Recorded lectures will be available for the occasional instances when you can&#8217;t make it to class.
