The links that were created in the last step all had the letter <strong>T<\/strong>. There are, in fact, three different types of links:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>T<\/strong> &#8211; propagates the transmitted electric fields Ext, Eyt, and Ezt.<\/li>\n<li><strong>R<\/strong> &#8211; propagates the reflected electric fields Exr, Eyr, and Ezr.<\/li>\n<li><strong>O<\/strong> &#8211; no fields are propagated. the input object performs an operation, such as disk positioning, on the output object.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>2. The link types in the simple disk system are:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-612\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/linktype.source.target.gif\" alt=\"linktype.source.target\" width=\"136\" height=\"52\" data-id=\"612\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The source object provides the initial values for the electric fields Ext, Eyt, and Ezt. Hence, a link type of <strong>T<\/strong> is used.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-611\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/linktype.gooeydelta.target.gif\" alt=\"linktype.gooeydelta.target\" width=\"136\" height=\"52\" data-id=\"611\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The gooey delta object positions the disk. Hence, a link type of O is used since it performs an operation on the target.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-613\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/linktype.target.look_.gif\" alt=\"linktype.target.look\" width=\"136\" height=\"53\" data-id=\"613\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The reflected target calculates the reflected electric fields, Exr, Eyr, and Ezr, based on the source object. Hence, a linktype R of is used since we wish to observe the reflected fields with the look object.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>3. The link type can be changed by edit the links properties:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-605\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/edit.linktype.gif\" alt=\"edit.linktype\" width=\"206\" height=\"107\" data-id=\"605\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All you have to do is right click the yellow portion of the link and select edit. The <em>Link Properties<\/em> will the be displayed:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-610\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/link.properties.gif\" alt=\"link.properties\" width=\"376\" height=\"344\" data-id=\"610\" \/><\/p>\n<p>after the desired linktype is choosen, click <strong>OK<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>4. Modify the gooey delta to reflected target linktype to <strong>O<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-611\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/06\/linktype.gooeydelta.target.gif\" alt=\"linktype.gooeydelta.target\" width=\"136\" height=\"52\" data-id=\"611\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>5.
