(see-below).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Specifying the Link&#8217;s Type :<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1253\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/08\/lnkparms.linktype.gif\" alt=\"lnkparms.linktype\" width=\"627\" height=\"198\" data-id=\"1253\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Transmitted<\/h4>\n<p>The object at the tail of the link often uses the <em>transmitted fields<\/em> attribute of the link to determine how it should do its calculations.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the<em> reflective target<\/em> performs its calculations on the transmitted fields (<em>Ext, Eyt, Ezt<\/em>) if the link type is <em>Transmitted Fields<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4>Reflected<\/h4>\n<p>The object at the tail of the link often uses the <em>transmitted fields<\/em> attribute of the link in its calculations.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the <em>reflective target<\/em> performs its calculations on the reflective fields (<em>Exr, Eyr, and Ezr)<\/em> if the link type is <em>Reflective Fields<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h4>Object\/Field Operation<\/h4>\n<p>The<em> Optiscan Simulation Engine<\/em> will skip calling the calculation procedure for the object at the end of this type of link.<\/p>\n<p>For example, in the following model:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1254\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.optics.arizona.edu\/milster\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2016\/08\/model1.gif\" alt=\"model1\" width=\"260\" height=\"144\" data-id=\"1254\" \/><\/p>\n<p>the <em>Delta<\/em> (purple triangle) objects are used to update the reflective target&#8217;s window and the name of the output data file. The link, labeled <strong>1<\/strong>, uses transmitted fields, the link labeled <strong>2<\/strong> uses reflective fields, and links labeled <strong>3<\/strong> and <strong>4<\/strong> use object\/field operations.<\/p>\n<p>The calculation for this model goes as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Load source (Ext\/Eyt\/Ezt and sysxvec\/sysyvec)<\/li>\n<li>Calculate reflection off target.<\/li>\n<li>Save reflected fields to disk.<\/li>\n<li>Modify the name of the output file.<\/li>\n<li>Modify the target&#8217;s window.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>By setting links <strong>3<\/strong> and <strong>4<\/strong> to object\/field operations, the data was not saved to disk again and the reflection off the target was not recalculated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Link Parameters Panel allows the user to specify the type of link that should be used.
