Waveguide Analyzer
The waveguide analyzer is the OSC Wave program that functionally evaluates a waveguide. It provides the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the scalar wave equation for the principle component of the electric field of all bound modes. The available index profiles are step, exponential, gaussian or erfc for each of the two transverse dimensions.
Getting Started
Click on the Accessories menu in the main model panel, and click on Waveguide Analyzer.
The window that pops up looks blank but has its own menu items on the top line.
Using the Waveguide Analyzer:
The basic commands fall under the menu Input Calculation. Here, basic parameters like the wavelength used and index, length, and width of the waveguide are entered. After pressing Calculation, it will give an approximate estimate on how long the calculation will take and then display three graphs.
Notes:
This help page is meant to assist with getting started. For more extensive help use the built in help pages. Each section of the help has its own title that appears in this pull down menu. A little playing with the program helps out and goes a long way.
